No Point To This Post
Seems as if I'm only posting once a month. I can't say that nothing has happened that I'd like to write about, or would like to track and keep as a reminder. It's more that I don't know how to put it into words. Some things have passed a while back that I couldn't find a way to describe what I felt then.
Anyway, I've stepped over to the second part of my 777 conversion training. The first part entailed a lot of support work, known as PM (pilot monitoring). The second part is more on flying and decision making, known as PF (pilot flying). During the first phase, we were given minimal chances to fly the plane, that phase was more to learn the ropes, to be comfortable with the aircraft, to be introduced to how commercial flying is done in this company. Now I'll have to make the decisions that will make the flight as comfortable and as non-eventful as can be. We earn our money by making it look as easy as can be.
I've always been asked by friends and family on what do we actually do up front after takeoff, and before landing. I can say that, there is a lot of things that needs to be done and monitored. Automation helps, but, we run the show. Flying isn't exactly going from one point to another by a straight line. The line zigs and zags, and has to be altered by us and the traffic controller due to various reasons. I can honestly say that, I've yet to fly the exact path that has been planned beforehand on the ground. It's quite a bit of work to make sure that passengers arrive on time, relaxed, and happy.
